The snow chain is perfect for those who want to drive on snowy or icy roads.
There are two types of chain : textile and reinforced steel.
Metal systems are the safest for heavy snowfall and steep slopes. Textile systems offer a more comfortable ride. On the other hand, they are more suitable for light snowfall.
The automatic snow chain is very easy to install because it is mounted on the front of the tyre only. The attachment is simple. On this type of chain, the tensioning is done automatically as soon as the car starts moving.
The manual snow chain is a more economical option.
Tensioning is done manually. It is necessary to make 2 stops in order to tighten the chains.
Depending on whether your car has a wide or narrow wheel arch, you need to choose the right snow chain. We say that a vehicle is not chainable when the wheel arch is too narrow to accommodate a basic snow chain or sock. However, there are solutions for vehicles that are not chainable.
When the wheel arch is larger than 7 mm, you should use so-called standard chains. These have thick links ranging from 9 mm to 16 mm.
This type of chain is intended for vehicles with a narrow wheel arch of less than 7 mm.
If there is not enough space to fit standard or extra thin chains, the spider chain is the best choice. Also known as a front-mounted chain because it is attached to the front of the tyre. You will find all the details of the spider chain in the following paragraph.
Some vehicles require very strong chains because the space around the wheels does not allow the installation of conventional chains. The solution we propose is to install front snow chains (or spiders). These snow chains are installed on vehicles with a narrow wheel arch. This way, the chain does not pass over the inner side of the tyre and does not risk damaging your vehicle.
Snow socks are a good alternative to snow chains when there is little snow on the road, allowing you to drive at speeds up to 50 km/h.
Tyre socks are tyre accessories made from textile. They provide a good grip on the road because they cover the wheels to absorb excess water on the road.
These car snow socks are an inexpensive and easy to fit solution for safe driving on snowy roads.
